Fresno, CA (May 20, 2008) – Paul Caprioglio was sworn in this morning as councilmember for District 4 due to Councilmember Larry Westerlund’s recent deployment to Iraq.

Caprioglio shed some light on what he thinks will be the biggest issue during his time on the Fresno City Council.

“The biggest challenge will start today, and that’s the budget,” Caprioglio said. “That’s the first and foremost challenge in these hard economic times.”

The other councilmembers have welcomed him warmly, Caprioglio said. When asked if he will share Westerlund’s standards while in office, Caprioglio said, “I think both of us, as well as all the councilmembers, have the same standards, and that is to do the best thing for the city of Fresno and its citizens.”

Caprioglio will serve on the City Council until January of 2009, or a full year if Westerlund is re-elected.
