| District 4 Council member, Larry Westerlund, is pleased to announce new, improved bus shelters for students and patrons riding City transportation near Fresno State University. In an effort to improve air quality through increased ridership of public transportation, the Clean Air Fund Implementation Team comprised of University staff met with Fresno Area Express (FAX) for assistance to provide incentives that would increase the use of public transportation around the Fresno State campus. Council member Westerlund suggested the replacement and improvement of old bus shelters along Shaw Avenue as a way to attract riders. >more |

| Fresno City Council Member Larry Westerlund is pitching a plan to build Park and Ride lots he says will help reduce the area's air pollution and traffic congestion. Westerlund will ask his City Council colleagues Tuesday to vote to support a partnership with the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District to design and build a series of Park and Ride lots in Fresno. There are no Park and Ride spots in Fresno — the biggest city in the San Joaquin Valley in one of the smoggiest air basins in the country.
