Brian

Brian has a BA degree from University of California, Davis, a MA degree from Syracuse University, and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was elected County Supervisor in Wisconsin until resigning after seven years to take a new position in Chicago.


For the past 31 years, he has been employed in the field of education as both an administrator and an instructor in Wisconsin, Chicago, and Fresno.


Brian developed the Fresno City College Training Institute and served as its executive director for eight years. This self-supporting economic development division provides credit/non-credit classes and customized contract training for businesses and the general public.



For the last nine years, he has been the principal instructor for Fresno City College’s teacher and teacher assistant programs. Fresno City College students transfer to four-year universities to complete their California teaching credential. He continues to teach full-time while serving on the City Council.

Brian’s community activities include serving on the Board of Directors for Citizens for Integrity in Government, a member of Tree Fresno, judging the academic competition in the Fresno Miss Teenage America competition, chairing the International Trade Committee for the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, serving as a member of the steering committee for Valley Children’s Hospital’s Kids’Day, and being on the Board of Directors of the San Joaquin River Parkway.


Brian has authored numerous professional publications and has made many presentations. He is a member of several professional organizations and has received awards and distinctions.




Brian was elected and took office as the District 2 Councilmember in January 2001. He was reelected to a second four-year term in 2005.
