Councilmember Calhoun Announces Plans for a Clarion Call to Action for Dealing with High Unemployment

FRESNO, CA (February 20, 2003) Fresno City Councilmember Brian Calhoun will hold a News Conference today, February 20, 2003, at 1:00 P.M. to announce his plans for a clarion call to action for dealing with the high unemployment numbers that continue to plague the City of Fresno and communities throughout Fresno County. Councilmember Calhoun will distribute a draft resolution which has been mailed to City and County elected and community leaders throughout Fresno County. He will also discuss the need for a more aggressive approach to this unemployment problem.
“In times of crisis we call for a state of emergency. If calling for an “Unemployment State of Emergency” is what it takes to pull the forces together and turn this around, then this is what we must do,” said Calhoun.
