Councilmembers Brian Calhoun and Mike Dages Will Introduce a Resolution to Oppose a 33% Gas Rate Increase by PG&E
11/13/2003

FRESNO, CA (November 13, 2003) Fresno City Councilmembers Brian Calhoun and Mike Dages will introduce a resolution Thursday afternoon at City Hall which expresses a grave concern regarding the impact to Fresno’s fixed income senior citizens and low income families which will result by the proposed 33% spike in rates by PG&E.

“I acknowledge that many in our community will not be as severely impacted by this additional drain on their disposable income; however, there are so many more that cannot absorb this increase and will be devastated by this elimination of their income,” said Councilmember Calhoun.

Councilmember Dages echoed by saying, “There are many fixed income senior citizens and families that live well below the poverty level throughout our community that will not be able to sustain another hit like this to their pocketbooks. We must not stand back quietly and watch this happen.”
