Councilman Steve Brandau was born and raised just outside of Fresno, in the small town of Selma, known as the Raisin Capital of the world. Steve and his family moved to Fresno after he graduated from Selma High School. He then attended Fresno State earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Shortly after, Steve started a carpet cleaning business, Blue Ribbon Carpet Care, which he has successfully run for 19 years. In 2012, Steve decided he wanted to become more active in the community by serving in the public sector. He won the Fresno City Council race for district 2 and now represents 73,000 constituents in the northwest Fresno area. He was sworn into office in January of 2013 and was elected Council President in January of 2014. Steve currently serves as the Chair of the San Joaquin River Conservancy, is a board member to both the Fresno County Transportation Authority and Economic Development Corporation. He was also recently appointed to represent Fresno as the voting delegate for the California League of Cities.
