Farebox PictureFAREBOXES on FAX Fixed-Route and Handy Ride buses are scheduled to be upgraded in 2010. Fareboxes are now being tested on Route 9 buses.

The Fare Logistics Voyager Fareboxes will benefit passengers, bus drivers, and FAX by utilizing the latest technology to accurately accept money and bus passes, issue transfer tickets, read electronic cards, and provide fare collection data.

Features of the new fareboxes include a passenger display that provides a count of deposited money, directional lighted arrows for inserting bills, visual and audible transaction feedback, and an automatic return of unacceptable coins.
