All FAX buses have lifts or ramps for easy access by passengers who use mobility devices, or have difficulty climbing stairs.

Assistance with boarding or exiting, wheelchair securement, lifts and fare payment is available from bus drivers when necessary or upon request.

More About Boarding the Bus:
The Driver Will:
  • Assist with lifting a folding seat, and locating the securement equipment.
  • Use hooks and/or tethers to properly secure the mobility device frame to the bus.
  • If performed by the passenger or personal care attendant, ensure that the mobility device has been properly secured.
  • Recommend that the mobility device brake is set and, if powered, that the power is turned off.
  • Offer and assist with the use of optional adjustable lap/shoulder belt.
  • Verify that all mobility devices are secured while the bus is in motion.
  • Release the securement equipment from the mobility device and assist the passenger to exit the bus.

Requests to receive information in an accessible format may be submitted by calling FAX at 621-7433 or by email through www.fresno.gov/fax.
