Fresno-Yosemite Airport Chosen for Flight Tests
08/30/2010
Fresno Yosemite International Airport is excited to announce that The Boeing Company has selected the Airport to conduct one of several component flight tests for the new Boeing 747-8 Freighter. Clear airspace and favorable weather conditions contributed to the selection of Fresno Yosemite.

The flight testing schedule is anticipated to begin in early October, and will continue over the next several months. With the actual flight days to be determined by weather and flight-test program constraints. The testing will consist of the 747-8 Freighter and a 747-400 reference airplane making repeated landing approaches.

A stationary metal weather tower and a tethered weather balloon will be assembled this week and will be located at the northerly end of the airfield as part of weather data collection.
