The Giants Have Arrived
04/06/2009
Fresno Yosemite International Airport is excited to announce the commencement of the “Sense of Place” project. The project celebrates our connectivity to three national parks, providing passengers and visitors a first and lasting impression of the Airport and the region. Beginning Tuesday, April 7, media is invited to track the progress of this remarkable tree puzzle as the giants emerge into a unique public work of art.
The “Sense of Place” project is commissioned public art coordinated with the Airport terminal remodel. Designed by NatureMaker, Inc. located in Carlsbad, California, the completed project will feature four “forested” locations with such elements as Sequoia Firs, pines, fallen logs, and other foliage, including a walk-through Sequoia tree and burned out stumps.
On Tuesday, April 7, multiple pieces of the walk-through tree will arrive. Media is invited to capture the arrival and installation of the trees over the next several weeks. Please coordinate with Vikkie Calderon to schedule a time and location details. The Airport will forward weekly schedule updates to the media as the installation continues over the next several weeks.
