37 Years And Still Cutting It

District 4 Council member Larry Westerlund together with Fresno Yosemite International Airport staff honor Nicholas Palomares with a Resolution of Commendation for 37 years as the Airport Barber at the regular meeting of the City Council on August 27th at 8:30am.
Nick Palomares has been doing business in the exact same location as Nicholas Jet-Set Haircutting for Men in the Airport terminal for the past 37 years. The business has withstood a myriad of terminal improvement projects over time, never moving yet continuing to cut hair at a rate of 12 haircuts a day, five days a week with only a few days off for vacation. That equates to 111,000 haircuts!
Nick has cut the hair of a lot of famous visitors to Fresno such as Magic Johnson, Johnny Cash, and Ricky Nelson to name a few. He’s made it a hobby to capture pictures of these celebrities and decorate his barber shop with their images as well as sports memorabilia.
Nick not only cuts hair, but acts as an Ambassador for Fresno and the Airport as he assists with language interpretation when needed.
When you ask Nick about his business he comments, “Business is good, just the way I want it to be. The Airport staff has been excellent since day one - June, 2, 1972.”
