PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS US Department of State Passport FAQs Airport Conditions and Delays Weather Information
FYI Prepared for Inclement Weather
11/12/2008

As inclement local and nationwide weather conditions occur, Fresno Yosemite International Airport reminds passengers to expect possible weather-related changes to their air travel itineraries this season.

It is recommended that passengers check with their airline on flight status prior to leaving for the Airport. Convenient flight status links are available on most airline websites or passengers may telephone the airline for flight status inquires. Passengers will need to have their flight number(s) or itinerary available to utilize these features.

Passengers should plan to arrive at the Airport at least two hours prior to departure. This will allow sufficient time to get through the flight check in and security checkpoint processes. Early arrival will also allow airline staff additional time to work on rerouting passengers if weather is a factor anywhere during their trip.

In the event of severe weather conditions, FYI is one of the few California airports with a Category III(b) Instrument Landing System. This sophisticated landing system provides aircraft with the ability to land in conditions of very reduced visibility; thereby minimizing local weather related delays and cancellations. For instance, due to severe weather conditions in the Bay Area earlier this year, the Airport’s all-weather landing capability allowed for over 20 unscheduled aircraft to divert to FYI.

Eight carriers currently offer Valley passengers 41 daily departures from Fresno. FYI is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.
