Checklist for Holiday Air Travel
11/15/2007

FRESNO, CA - FYI wants everyone to enjoy their travel experience this holiday season, and offers these timely tips for travelers:

· For all liquids, gels, and aerosols in carry-on, remember the 3-1-1 rule. They must be placed in a 3 ounce or smaller container; these containers must be placed in a 1-quart, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; and only 1 bag per passenger, and placed in a plastic bin for screening. Larger amounts of liquids, gels, and aerosols must be packed in checked baggage. Reasonable quantities of medications and baby formula are allowed and must be declared during the screening process.

· Arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to departure – this will allow sufficient time to get through the flight check‑in and security checkpoint processes. Your early arrival will also allow airline staff additional time to reroute you if weather is a factor anywhere during your trip.

· The white curb in front of the terminal is for drop-off only. This rule will be strictly enforced and unattended vehicles will be immediately towed at the owner’s expense. Plan to quickly drop-off passengers and luggage at the white curb and then park in the lot.

· Have your reservation locator/flight number and a government issued photo ID for each adult available for the ticket agent. You may again be asked to produce this ID at other stages of check-in, screening and boarding.

· Maintain control of your baggage at all times – unattended bags are subject to confiscation. Never carry anything onboard the aircraft for another person, especially for someone you do not know.

· Limit your carry-on baggage. Electronic devices will delay the screening process. If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry a needle and/or syringe in your carry-on baggage you must also have the medication that requires such injection on your person. The medication must be packaged with a pharmaceutical label or professionally printed label identifying the medication.

· Clearly mark your name and phone number inside and outside of all carry‑on and checked baggage and do NOT lock bags unless using a TSA-approved lock. TSA locks are readily available. Samples may be found at www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/locks.shtm .

· Finally, check with your airline before coming to the airport to reconfirm flight schedules and delays, as well as baggage size/weight limitations.

Safety and security are top priorities for all airport personnel. Passengers can help ensure a smooth security process by following the TSA’s security procedures available at www.TSA.gov. Happy Holidays from FYI!
