SMART Program
(Sound Mitigation Acoustical Remedy Treatment)

Program Information

  • Homes in the Highest contours (70-75 CNEL) are treated first; homes in the lower contours will be treated in the descending order of noise level.
  • Home Owners are contacted by Airport representatives, based upon this priority. Homeowners execute Avigation Easements in return for the installation of noise reducing improvements to their homes.
  • The Program is funded 95% by Federal Government grants awarded by the FAA; Measure C or the Airport matches 5%
  • At the present funding levels, the program may require 15-20 years to treat all 2,500 homes in the eligible area. Fresno Yosemite International Airport's goal is to complete this program as quickly as federal grants permit.
  • This Program is only one way Fresno Yosemite International Airport is working to reduce aircraft noise. Flight paths and aircraft procedures are periodically reviewed and modified to reduce the impact of aircraft noise from commercial, cargo and military aircraft.

Objective

  • Our objective is to operate as a good corporate neighbor. As such, Fresno Yosemite International makes a significant contribution to the economy of Fresno and the Central Valley.
