Mr. Gregory Barfield provides the day to day leadership in support of the Councilmember Oliver Baines’s agenda. As Chief of Staff he is also responsible for reviewing land use, planning projects, economic development activities and overseeing the staff, interns and volunteers who are vital to communicating and working on behalf of residents of the district and City of Fresno
Gregory was the City of Fresno’s, first Homeless Prevention and Policy Manager, and was responsible for the implementation of the 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness adopted by the City of Fresno and the County of Fresno in September of 2008.
Gregory began that assignment in December 2008 and provided the day to day on the ground leadership. Working daily with those on the streets, the many local non-profit service providers, the County of Fresno, City of Fresno departments, the Housing Authority, the faith and business community, and many others to develop and provide housing opportunities to those who are on the streets as well as developing solutions to prevent people from losing their current housing.
Prior to this, he was the Chief of Staff to former District Three, Fresno City Councilmember Cynthia Sterling for three years. He has worked in all levels of government, been active in many local, state and federal political campaigns in the last 30 plus years with time spent working at community based non-profits, institutions of higher learning, and private business along the way.
Gregory was born in Fresno to Tommy & Wanda Barfield proud residents of the district and Edison High School graduates, was raised in the Bay Area (Richmond, California), where he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. He is married to Angie, together in their blended family they have seven children and four grand children. Gregory is a proud graduate of California State University, Fresno with a degree in Social Work.
Tyler Ward has served as the District Three Council Assistant since June 2016. She assists with constituent services, attends community outreaches, directly oversees all office interns helping to allow them to better understand how city government operates as well as providing input from programs in Fresno for young adults and other clerical office skills.
Tyler Ward was born and raised in Fresno, California. Tyler grew up in a single parent home with four other sibling and is a graduate of Clovis West High School and graduated in 2013 after spending most of her early education in the Central Unified School District. Currently attending Fresno City College, working on her AA Degree to in order to transfer and obtain a Bachelors and later her Master’s Degree in Sociology. She one day plans to become an Academic Counselor to help students create and achieve their goals in order for them to excel. Tyler is also a loving mother to a handsome young man, is family oriented, a woman of faith and is passionate about serving and giving back to the community.
