Mayor Autry Comments on Election Results
FRESNO , CA ( November 9, 2005) – In advance of brief follow-up press meeting set for 11:30am today, Mayor Alan Autry made the following statement with regard to the results of the special election held Tuesday, November 8, 2005:
“ The opponents of reform spent well over $100 million to try and sell the people of California tickets to stay on the Titanic. Last night, the majority of voters bought them. The problem is now all of us have to go along for the ride. My heart continues to go out to the millions of Californians, especially our most needy children that have been abused, neglected and left behind and the countless others that will face the same fate until this dysfunctional system masquerading as State government is finally reformed. I promise those children that the battle was not lost last night, it has only just begun.”
Mayor Autry will meet with members of the media at City Hall on the second floor foyer to address the subject.
