Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Tomorrow!!

The 3rd annual City of Fresno metropolitan Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will take place tomorrow evening beginning at 6pm in front of City Hall.

The massive tree was donated by Southern California Edison from a mature stand near Shaver Lake, and trucked down Highway 168 by City employees. After a week and a half of delicate work, the 61 foot white fir and surrounding City Hall façade are now adorned with 14,000 light bulbs and 2,500 colorful decorations.

Tomorrow evening’s spectacle will feature Jolly Old Saint Nick, children’s and adult choirs, Mayor Autry’s final holiday salutation, and various holiday-themed activities for the entire family.

For information prior to and at the event, your contacts will be John Wallace-PAO, Bruce Rudd-Assistant City Manager, and Belinda McMillan-Management Analyst.

TELEVISION NOTE: Programs such as these are very fluid, but we expect the actual lighting of the tree to take place at approximately 6:45pm. As the event unfolds, we will keep your crews informed.
