(FRESNO , CA May 12, 2006) – Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of Fresno Mayor Alan Autry to the California Film Commission. Mayor Autry has spent more than two decades in the film and television industry, appearing in TV shows such as “In the Heat of the Night,” “Grace Under Fire,” “The Dukes of Hazzard,” and “Cheers.” His film credits include “Amazing Grace and Chuck,” “Brewster’s Millions,” and “Popeye,” He also owns the Fresno-based production company, Autry Entertainment Group. >more

(FRESNO , CA May 5, 2006) – Mayor Alan Autry expressed outrage in the wake of a major state legislative decision early this morning that will jeopardize the economy of the Central Valley. Although the $37.3 billion public works spending package will bring $1 billion to Highway 99, it failed to provide funding for water storage which is a fundamental requirement for economic prosperity and public health. (FRESNO , CA April 12, 2006) – City of Fresno provides residents the opportunity to get rid of their spare tires for free at the City of Fresno Waste Tire Amnesty Day event. The City of Fresno Code Enforcement Waste Tire team will be conducting the first of many Waste Tire Amnesty Day events of the year on Saturday, April 15, 2006 from 8:00am through 1:00pm at Fresno’s Rotary West Park. (FRESNO , CA April 11, 2006) – The City of Fresno Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is holding the second in a series of Town Hall meetings to coordinate plans for improving Camp Fresno, on Tuesday, April 11 th, 2006 at 5:30pm in the foyer of the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Specific improvement projects have been identified and will be assigned to the various community groups and individuals that have volunteered their time.
