05/29/06  Mayor Autry Launches New Gang Task Force Initiative
(FRESNO , CA May 29, 2006) – Mayor Alan Autry declares his commitment to public safety with the formation of the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Initiative Task Force in a press conference on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 10:00am outside of Council Chambers at Fresno’s City Hall. Given the violence and other characteristics associated with gangs, heightened cooperation between law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies – prosecutors, parole and probation, jails and courts, crime laboratories and Federal agencies together with social, community service and educational agencies is critical to the success of gang suppression efforts. 05/26/06  City Of Fresno Completes Synchronization Of Blackstone Avenue From Mckinley Avenue To Herndon Avenue
(FRESNO , CA May 26, 2006) – Public Works Director David Healey announces the completion of the traffic signal synchronization on Blackstone Avenue from McKinley Avenue to Herndon Avenue. The installation of fiber-optic cable from traffic signals along Blackstone Avenue, to the City’s Traffic Operations Center (TOC), has made it possible for City traffic engineers to optimize the timing of 17 traffic signals along five miles of Blackstone Avenue. Fresno drivers will experience the following benefits when they travel along Blackstone Avenue: Decreased delays. >more

05/22/06  City Of Fresno Announces Correction In The 2006-2007 Budget ‘Guide To Mayors Proposed Budget’
(FRESNO , CA May 22, 2006) – On Tuesday, May 16, 2006 Mayor Alan Autry presented his proposed budget for fiscal year 2006-2007. On page 18 of the publication entitled “A Guide To The Mayor’s Proposed Budget FY 2006-2007”, the City’s Emergency Reserve Fund was misreported as $1.1 million due to a typographical error. >more

05/18/06  City Residents Have A Second Chance To Rid Themselves Of Their Spare Tires
(FRESNO , CA May 18, 2006) – City of Fresno provides residents the opportunity to get rid of their spare tires for free at the City of Fresno Waste Tire Amnesty Day event. The City of Fresno Code Enforcement Waste Tire team will be conducting their second Waste Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, May 20, 2006 from 8:00am through 1:00pm at a Bullard High School. Citizens who reside in the stated target area may dispose of up to six tires for free while those who reside outside of the target area may dispose of their spare tires for a one dollar fee. >more

05/12/06  Alaskan Mayor Weighs In On The Hockey Challenge
(FRESNO , CA May 12, 2006) – Today, Alaskan Mayor, Mark Begich weighed in on the wager set by Fresno Mayor Alan Autry in the outcome of the ECHL National Conference Finals in the Kelly Cup Playoff Series between the Fresno Falcons and the Alaska Aces. While Mayor Autry offered a 50 pound box of Fresno’s famous chocolate covered raisins, Alaska’s Mayor Begich countered with 50 pounds of Alaska salmon on the outcome of this best of seven series. As of today, the teams are tied at one game a piece and will resume their series in Fresno on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday at Fresno’s Save Mart Center. >more
