10/08/14  Exceptional Commercial and Residential Landscapes Named at the Fourth Annual Central Valley Friendly Landscaping Awards
Fresno, CA – The winners of the Central Valley Friendly Landscaping (CVFL) Awards Program will be recognized at a ceremony, at the Clovis Botanical Garden. The winners of this year’s program were determined by a committee of water-wise landscaping experts who judged residential landscapes based on their ability to protect and conserve our Valley’s natural resources. 10/07/14  Team Smile Sponsors Free Children’s Dental Care Day
FRESNO – Team Smile, a group of dental and sports professionals that team up to provide free dental healthcare to children ages 4 -17, will make a stop at the Fresno State South Gym on Saturday, October 11, 2014 to offer free dental care checkups to children. 10/01/14  Mayor Swearengin Announces Improved Credit Outlook From Moody’s
FRESNO, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today announced that Moody’s Investors Service has revised its outlook on the City of Fresno’s long-term ratings from stable to positive, and affirms the city’s overall bond ratings.According to Moody’s, the change in outlook reflects the recent positive changes in Fresno's economy, contributing to increases in property and sales taxes, the city's most important revenue sources. The positive outlook also reflects Moody’s expectation that the city's ongoing commitment to rein in expenditures and rebuild depleted reserves will continue to pay off in the future. “This reflects the smart choices we’ve made in recent years to discipline ourselves to focus on managing the fiscal crisis at hand while at the same time keeping an eye on the responsibilities of tomorrow,” said Mayor Swearengin >more

09/24/14  City of Fresno to Hold Waste Tire Amnesty Event This Weekend
FRESNO -- The City of Fresno Code Enforcement, using grant funding available from CalRecycle, will hold a Waste Tire Amnesty Day event on Saturday to allow City of Fresno residents to dispose of their unwanted waste tires. Some event restrictions include: Participants must be City of Fresno residents, no tractor or diesel tires, no business-generated tires, and each resident is limited to (9) tires per vehicle. 09/18/14  Mayor Swearengin Statement on Fresno Grizzlies’ New Major League Affiliation
FRESNO, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today made the following statement in response to the news that the Fresno Grizzlies have agreed to a player development contract with the Houston Astros to become their new Triple-A franchise: “We appreciate the great relationship Fresno has had with the San Francisco Giants over the past 17 years and wish them well with their new minor league affiliate. The reality of life in Triple-A baseball is that while the line-up card is constantly changing, the fans are always the team’s top priority. 09/17/14  City of Fresno Continues to Lead California in Water Conservation
FRESNO, CA – The City of Fresno’s Department of Public Utilities (DPU) today officially reported water production totals for July and August 2014, showing a sharp drop in usage from the same months in 2013 and a continued overall decline in water usage for the year. Total monthly water production for July 2014, normally the highest-usage time of the year, totaled 5,252,463,270 gallons, down 8% from July 2013 and surpassing the statewide drop of 7.5% reported by the State Water Resources Control Board last week. >more

Fresno, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today issued the following statement on her discussion today with the San Francisco Giants about keeping their Triple-A affiliation with the Fresno Grizzlies: “The City had a very productive, two hour meeting today with the leadership of the Giants.
