07/28/15  City Manager’s Office, Councilmembers Brandau, Brand to Co-Sponsor Agreement to Improve Hiring Incentives for Fresno Police
FRESNO, CA – The City Manager’s Office, Councilmember Lee Brand and Councilmember Steve Brandau are co-sponsoring a proposal to incentivize the Fresno Police Department’s recruiting program. City Council is scheduled to vote on the proposal at Thursday’s meeting.The Side Letter Agreement, approved by the board of the Fresno Police Officers Association, would improve financial incentives for lateral hires to make Fresno more competitive in recruiting experienced public safety officers from other jurisdictions. “The lack of qualified candidates, along with our Police Department’s higher employment standards, makes it difficult to recruit or attract new hires at a time when cities are competing against each other to retain and attract the best candidates,” said City Manager Bruce Rudd >more
