03/03/16  City of Fresno Celebrates Groundbreaking for Fulton Mall Reconstruction Project
FRESNO, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today joined City leaders, staff and hundreds of supporters in downtown Fresno to officially break ground on the Fulton Mall Reconstruction Project, which will restore two-way traffic to the heart of downtown Fresno. The event, which was televised live on the Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC) government affairs channel, celebrated the start of a dramatic facelift for the six-block-long thoroughfare after years of discussion and debate. The Fresno City Council voted in February 2014 to reopen the mall to automobile traffic, and on December 3, 2015, a six-to-one vote by the Council awarded a $22. >more

03/02/16  City of Fresno Breaks Ground on New Southeast Surface Water Treatment Facility
Fresno, CA – The City of Fresno’s largest public works project in history broke ground today with state and local elected officials on hand to commemorate the start of construction on the Southeast Surface Water Treatment Facility. The facility, which will be completed in 2018, is the cornerstone of Recharge Fresno, the City’s program to improve the pipelines and water system facilities that will capture, treat and deliver water to Fresno homes and businesses, including surface water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. “For decades, the City of Fresno has worked to create a plan that ensures a sustainable water future for our community,” said Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin. “That plan is now a reality with construction of this essential project that will ensure a safe, clean, reliable water supply for Fresno for generations to come >more

02/26/16  Mayor Announces Fresno Airport Agreement with Lyft
Fresno, CA – Mayor Ashley Swearengin today announced that Fresno Yosemite International Airport has finalized an agreement for ridesharing company Lyft to operate at the airport. The agreement between Fresno Yosemite and Lyft meets the requirement of California Public Utilities Commission to allow Transportation Network Companies, such as Lyft, to operate at any California airport. Fresno, CA – The City of Fresno Office of Development and Resource Management has placed its new Vacant/Blighted Property Registry on the City website as a resource for staff to help reduce blight in older neighborhoods. The City of Fresno passed the Blighted and Vacant Building Ordinance in June of 2015 which mandated the development of the registry.
